Immigration proved to be a major boiling point at last night’s Republican debate, where presidential candidates Jeb Bush and John Kasich criticized Donald Trump’s aggressive plan to deport unauthorized immigrants. After Trump defended his plan to build a wall along the Mexican border and to identify and deport some 11 million people, Kasich responded by telling the audience to “think about the families; think about the children.” He also described Trump’s “ship them back” approach as a “silly argument” and “not adult.” Later, Bush warned that Trump’s harsh proposals would drive Hispanic voters to support the Democrats. “They’re doing high-fives in the Clinton campaign right now when they hear this,” he declared.
