Grammys executive producer Ken Ehrlich has revealed that the show’s tribute to George Michael was originally supposed to include performances from Beyonce, Rihanna and James Corden in addition to Adele. According to People, Ehrlich said this week that an early concept for the tribute included each of the artists covering a song from Michael’s catalog.

However, according to Adele, “[The family] didn’t want a tribute at first, and they came back and were very specific that it be me.” “The dream was Adele–we had to get it right,” Ehrlich added. Ultimately, Adele collaborated with Michael’s representative David Austin on the visuals for the performance.
